For e-commerce and marketplace sellers
Sales, fees and refunds as rows. The payout as a transfer. Suppliers paid on your rules.
Saltmarsh Goods sells candles and homeware on Shopify, Etsy and its own Stripe checkout.
Shopify, Stripe and PayPal, netted into one book
Every payout arrives with its fees taken apart, so the reports read by channel, not by bank line.
Accounts and rails in depth →Shopify paid out on Tuesday, Stripe on Friday, and neither figure is the week's sales. Where did the fees and the refunds go?

A report is described in words and saved as a question, and it runs again each time it is opened.
Suppliers paid in one batch, ads on a card with a ceiling
Bills queue by status, one batch pays the week under your rule, and ad spend sits against a budget.
Payments and batches in depth →The ceramics supplier's invoice is in the mail, the fulfilment bill is overdue, and the packaging quote is a PDF somewhere. What is owed, and when?

Monthly limits per category, what is left of each, what slipped past.
The month handed over as a set of files
Statements per account and platform, a journal and one archive: the month arrives as files, not as a question.
Reports and tax in depth →Four platforms, a bank, a card and two hundred rows a week. What does the accountant get on the fifth, and what do they still have to ask?
The assistant
Ask it before you pay a bill twice.
Suppliers, platforms and returns leave the same bill in two inboxes; the composer checks it against everything already paid on any rail.
The assistant in full →- Reading bills from Northwest Packaging
- Comparing number, amount and date
It looks like the bill of 3 August, paid on the 12th from the bank account: same number, same amount, same payee.
What it takes on
- Duplicates before they are paid
- A bill checked by number, amount and payee against everything accepted and paid on any rail.
- Subscriptions that got dearer
- The same schedule compared over the months: Notion up 18% since July, and Figma added a seat.
- What is burning, one list
- Overdue invoices, loans and milestones, connections down, payments waiting for a signature for more than a day.
Who does what
Four people in one book, and no shared password.
- Founder
- Signs the supplier batch, reads margin by channel, and gets told before the ad budget is gone.
- Office manager
- Forwards the supplier bills, keeps the address book, and answers the accountant's questions from the queue.
- Finance lead
- Prepares the batch, watches the four payouts land, and closes the month.
- Accountant
- Gets the month as files and a read-only door into the closed period.
Connections
Connected the way a shop already sells.
Sales come in daily from the platforms by a key you make there, the bank by feed or by statement, and the month goes out as files.
- Stripe
- Shopify
- PayPal
- Etsy
- Plaid
- QuickBooks
- Xero
- Slack
Control and trust
What a shop needs to trust the book.
- Roles
- Owner, admin, member, viewer, accountant. A contractor is a contact, not a seat.
- Signing rules
- A threshold, the number of signatures, address book only, a monthly allowance per person.
- Read-only keys
- A platform key reads sales and payouts and nothing else; a key with payment rights is refused.
- Paper
- A document becomes a bill to pay or the receipt on a payment; a whole sort run is undone in one press.
Questions
The questions that come first.
Do the platform payouts count as income?
No. The daily sales are the income, with the fees and the refunds as their own rows. The payout that reaches the bank is a transfer between your own accounts, so the month is never counted twice, however many platforms pay out.
Can a supplier be paid without a bank feed?
Yes. The bank account can be manual, fed by statements. A payment is prepared in Orla, signed under the rule, and confirmed by hand when the transfer shows up in the bank.
What does the accountant receive?
A zip archive, a journal CSV and each account's feed for QuickBooks Online and Xero, closed month by month. A read-only accountant seat is there for those who prefer to look at the rows themselves, without a login to the bank.
