When to stay put
A one week trip does not need a migration.
Its real advantage is that the other five people already have it.

When the split is not the problem
The shared flat, month after month.
A scoreboard works until the sharing is permanent.

What is the best free Splitwise alternative?
tricount or Settle Up. Both are free, both do the same job, and Settle Up works the settling out into as few payments as possible. If the ads and the limits are your only complaint, either of them solves it without costing anything.
Should I move my group off Splitwise?
For a one week trip, no. The other five people already have it, and moving a group is the expensive part, not the app. For a flat you share month after month, the calculation changes: that is when a scoreboard stops being enough.
How is Orla different from all three?
The other three record who owes whom. Orla records it inside the book the debt belongs to, so settling up is a real payment against the right category and your own month adds up afterwards. The price of that is that everyone signs up, which is a lot to ask for one weekend.
