Moving in

A place to go when Midday closes.

Midday is winding down and you have ninety days. Orla reads that export whole, categories and receipts included.

Their announcement, read on 27 August 2026, is at midday.ai/updates/joining-ramp and says the product winds down over three months, that accounts stay active for ninety days, and that a full data export is available throughout.

The move

Three steps, and none of them retyping.

Your books are a file. A file is something software can read.

  • In Midday, ask for the full export from team settings. It arrives as one ZIP.
  • In Orla, open Import and choose "Coming from Midday". Drop the ZIP in.
  • Point each of their accounts at an account here, or let Orla create it. Nothing is written until you say so.

Side by side

What comes across, and what does not.

The honest version, not the marketing one.

In your exportIn Orla after the import
TransactionsAcross every accountBooked to the account you point them at, in their own currency
Your categoriesThe ones you chose yourselfKept as they are, with no tax rate invented for them
ReceiptsFiles attached to a paymentFiled against the same payment, not into a pile
CustomersNames, tax numbers, addressesYour address book, ready to invoice from
Invoices you issuedPDFs and their numberingStored as documents, deliberately not as invoices of yours
Vault filesContracts, agreementsDocuments, searchable
Tracked hoursProjects and timersNot imported. Orla does not track time

Old invoices stay documents on purpose. Their numbering and their paid statuses belong to the books you are leaving, and filing them as yours would put another company's history into your VAT return as fact.

Fair is fair

When Orla is the wrong move.

Better to read it here than to find out after the import.

  • Billable hours are how you invoice. Orla has no timer and no timesheets, and that was the heart of Midday for a lot of people
  • You want a US corporate card programme with spend controls. That is what Ramp is for, and their team offered eligible customers a path
  • Your accountant wants a specific ledger file every month. Orla exports clean books, but it is not a replacement for their software

Where Orla is different

Money Midday never saw.

If any of this is your money, the move decides itself.

  • Coins on an exchange or in a wallet, priced by the day they moved and taxed like the rest of your income
  • Invoices paid in crypto or in fiat, chased the same way either way
  • A company, a family and your own money in separate books, without three logins
  • A VAT and tax centre that reads the same ledger the rest of the app reads

Questions

The questions the table does not answer.

Is Midday shutting down?
Their own announcement, read on 27 August 2026, says Midday is joining Ramp and the product winds down over three months. Accounts stay active for ninety days with a full data export available throughout, and eligible customers were offered a path to Ramp.
Can I import my Midday export into Orla?
Yes, the whole ZIP. Orla reads it, shows what is inside before writing anything, and then books the transactions, keeps the categories you gave them, files each receipt against its own payment, and brings your customer list into the address book.
What does not come across from Midday?
Tracked hours, because Orla has no timer and no timesheets. Invoices you issued arrive as PDFs in Documents rather than as invoices of yours: their numbering and paid statuses belong to the books you are leaving, and filing them as ours would put another company's history into your VAT return.
What happens to the categories I set up in Midday?
They are kept under the same names, and a category Orla does not have yet is created for you. No tax rate is attached to it: a rate carried over from another country's setup would be a deduction claim nobody can stand behind.
What is the closest Midday alternative for a freelancer paid in crypto?
That is the case Orla was built for. Invoices, bank accounts, exchanges and wallets sit in one book, coins are priced by the day they moved, and the tax centre reads the same ledger the rest of the app reads.
