An invoice a tax office accepts.
In most of the world an invoice without a rate and a breakdown is not a document your client can reclaim against. Turn tax on once, and every invoice carries what it has to carry.
A rate on every line
Each line takes a rate from your own list. The invoice shows a subtotal, the tax per rate and the total, calls itself a tax invoice, and the client sees the same breakdown on the public page and in the PDF.
Selling abroad, charging nothing
Billing a business in another country usually means no tax and a sentence explaining why. Pick reverse charge on the line and the invoice prints that sentence itself. Zero-rated and exempt are separate answers, because a return counts them on separate lines.
Your rates, not ours
When you switch tax on we suggest the usual rates for your country once, and then leave the list alone. Rates move, and a rate we keep updating for you is a number we would be answerable for. You keep it current.
The number your tax office issues
Israel gives an allocation number per document, India an IRN, Mexico a UUID. Where your country works that way the invoice form asks for it under the right name and prints it on the document. You get the number from them and type it in.
What you owe this quarter
The tax you charged clients, less the tax you paid on expenses, period by period. Choose whether tax is owed when the invoice is issued or when the money arrives, and whether you file monthly, quarterly or yearly. Part payments carry their share.
Reclaiming on what you spend
Put a rate on an expense category and everything filed there reclaims it, or set one on a single row. Spending with no rate is not reclaimed, and the period tells you how many rows those were, so a small return reads as a decision rather than a loss.
Filed, then something changed
Record a period as paid and Orla remembers what it said you owed at that moment. If a late invoice or a forgotten receipt lands inside a period you already filed, the card says so and shows the figure it used to be.
Profit stops counting the tax
Tax you collect is not your income and tax you reclaim is not your cost. Once tax is on, the dashboard and the project P&L show the money that is actually yours. Balances stay whole, because the bank saw the whole amount.

Does Orla file my return for me?
No. Orla works out the figures and shows the workings; you or your accountant file them. Nothing is sent to any tax authority.
Can Orla send invoices through KSeF, Peppol or the Israeli allocation system?
Not today. Those need an accredited status or a contracted provider, and we do not have one yet. Where a number is issued per document you get it yourself and type it onto the invoice.
I sell to businesses abroad and charge no tax. Is that covered?
Yes, that is the reverse charge case, and it is the common one for agencies and freelancers. The invoice carries the required sentence.
My books are in dollars but I file in shekels.
Set the filing currency separately from the space currency. Amounts are converted at our own rates, which can differ slightly from your tax office's, and the screen says so.
What happens to invoices I sent before turning tax on?
Nothing. They keep no tax, no breakdown and the same total. A line that says nothing about tax is not the same as a line at zero percent, and the returns treat them differently.
Does US sales tax work the same way?
No, and Orla does not do it. Sales tax has no reclaim on purchases and its rates depend on the buyer's address, so it is a different machine.
Charge it properly.
A rate on every line, the wording that has to be there, and the quarter adding itself up.
